With the current state of the economy, money is tight. The good news is that taking women out on dates doesn’t have to be expensive. It simply requires a little more thought.
A lot of men think that they can buy their way out of thinking. Expensive candle lit dinners and theatre trips are ok if you’ve got the money. But if you have an empty wallet, you may think your options are limited. However, creative, cheap dates are often the best kind. They’re often more memorable, and when she sees that you’ve put some thought into your date, she won’t care how much money you spent on taking her out – that’s if she’s worth knowing.
Whether it’s your first date or you’re rekindling excitement back into your relationship, here are some cheap date ideas that’ll impress her without blowing your bank balance.
First Dates
Wine tasting – Many local wineries hold tours and tastings for little or no money. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon and enjoy some free wine. Take a mental note on the wine she enjoys the most, and pick up a few bottles of her favourite to keep at your place when she comes over for a visit.
Crazy golf – A few inexpensive rounds of crazy golf is a great way to have fun together. Keep scores but don’t take it too seriously. You may think you’re the next Tiger Woods but remember to keep it light hearted.
Bike ride for two – Pedalling a tandem bike along a cycling path can be a great way to enjoy some scenery whilst working together and having fun. Start off slow and learn how to ride the tandem bike together. Remember to hire helmets.
Second Dates
Be active – There’s always something you can do outside. Skating, cycling, walking along a beach, jogging, sledding, and building a snowman. The possibilities are endless.
Go to the zoo – Most women love animals and it will only cost you for entry and maybe some food for the animals. Pack a pre-made lunch for two or pick something up at the zoo.
Explore your city – Pretend you’re both tourists. Find a map/guide and explore places in your city that you’ve never been before. Drive out to a nearby town or village and explore areas away from the main tourist attractions.
Picnic in the park – Keep the menu simple and bring a good bottle of wine. Mix it up with a leisurely bike ride. It’s relaxing compared to fighting through traffic and finding a place to park, and you can enjoy the scenery on the way. If the weather’s poor, stretch out on a blanket in your living room and have an indoor picnic.
Karaoke – go to a karaoke bar and watch other people perform. Entry is usually free. All it’ll cost you is a few drinks. If you’re brave enough, take a turn on the mic yourself, or get up to sing a duet with your girl.
Yard / boot sale – Practice your haggling skills at a boot sale. Buy her something silly that’ll make her think of you every time she sees it.
Sunset – Going for random walks can be fun, but hiking to the nearest hill or peak to watch the sunset gives you a purpose. Keep the walk short; say 45 minutes at the most. Bring a mini picnic and wine with you to enjoy whilst watching the sun go down.
Rearrange your bachelor pad – every bachelor pad can use a woman’s touch. Ask her over to help you rearrange your small furniture items or buy inexpensive accessories. Plus, it’s a good excuse to get her over to your place if you’re finding it difficult to do so at this stage.
Any Dates after That
See an outdoor concert – If you live in a city, you’ll probably be able to catch a concert for free (or very little money). Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on and some cash for food and drinks.
Local pub – Take her to a local pub that’s got a good reputation for a few beers and a game of darts or pool. Challenge each other, with the loser having to make a forfeit.
Art gallery – If you’re both interested in art, why not visit an art gallery. Most art galleries are free and can feature a variety of different pieces. Pretend to be art connoisseurs and have fun guessing the value of work exhibited or for sale.
Fly a kite – Buy a kite and have an enjoyable afternoon flying it on a windy day. Then, go for some lunch or a walk around wherever’s nearby.
Volunteer for a day – Find a charity that you both care about and spend a day volunteering together.
Movie night – If you’ve been together for a while, consider re-enacting your first movie date. Pick up the first movie you watched together, buy some movie theatre type snacks such as popcorn and M&Ms, go to her place and ask her over for a movie night in.
Farmers market – Making dinner together is a romantic occasion, but use your dinner date as an excuse to take a stroll around your local farmers market in the morning. Pick up some fresh ingredients – don’t spend too much money, just buy the main items. Use the middle of the day to find some easy recipes and then start cooking dinner together.
Dinner party – If you’ve been together for a while and have mutual friends, invite them over for a dinner party. Ask your guests to bring food or drink to share and you and your girl can cook the main course together.
